The history of this amazing Morgan horse is one of
the most interesting ones we have to tell. Joshua is a
22-year-old gelding donated to the center by his artist
owner. She told us that before she bought him, Joshua
had been a champion show horse in the Canadian
Morgan Horse Association, and held titles in
Equitation, Driving and Halter classes in the
organization. He is a fabulous therapy horse with a
wonderful disposition, much loved by all his students.
One of the best things about Joshua is that he has
expectations of his riders. He insists that they use the
reins properly if they expect him to turn or stop. This
attribute is very helpful when we work with students
who really want to learn to ride and have the ability to
do so. Even though he is firm in some ways, Joshua is
also very gentle and patient. He takes independent
riders as well as little ones who cannot sit up by
themselves.
He is an all-around champion to all of his
friends at Magic Moments. Joshua is healthy but has severe arthritis. He eats
regular feed and sees his veterinarian regularly. The
farrier trims his feet about 5 times a year. |
